Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan tests positive for COVID-19

"I'm really glad I got the booster shot,' Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan says

DETROIT, Mich. – Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan announced Sunday (April 3) that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms. He is also isolating until he tests negative.

Duggan announced the news in a tweet, stating that after two years, the virus finally got him.

In the tweet, Duggan also stated that he woke up with a cough on Saturday (April 2) and took an at-home test that came back with a negative result. Still, he decided to stay home and isolate. Then, on Sunday, he took another COVID-19 test, which came back positive.

“I’m really glad I got the booster shot. The symptoms I have are mild – much like an average cold. Fortunately, my wife Sonia has tested negative,” Duggan said on Twitter. “I’ll be working full-time from home on zoom until the doctors clear me to return to in-person meetings.”

Duggan also added that he hopes everyone who is eligible will get the COVID-19 booster and vaccine.
