Here’s how to get your four additional free at-home COVID-19 tests

Americans are now allowed to order four more free COVID-19 tests from the government

A few months ago, it seemed nearly impossible to score an at-home COVID-19 test, let alone a free one. We’ve heard stories of people driving hours just to find an at-home test back in January.

Now, that’s all changed, and there seems to be a surplus of COVID-19 tests. In fact, Americans are allowed to start ordering more free COVID-19 test kits and have them delivered to their doorstep this week.

In his State of the Union address last week, President Joe Biden announced that Americans would be able to request more free tests, even if they’ve already ordered them when the tests were first available earlier this year, from the government’s website. To order the tests, go to covidtests.gov and enter the requested information.

People are able to order an additional set of four tests, per household, for free. For those who don’t want to use the website, people can also request test kits by calling the hotline at 1-800-232-0233 or TTY 1-888-720-7489. The hotline is open from 8 a.m. to midnight ET every day.
