In people who have had Covid-19, vaccination with Coronavac, an immunizing agent developed by the Chinese laboratory Sinovac and, in Brazil, by the Butantan Institute, has doubled the amount of neutralizing antibodies, and multiplied by 4 , 4 times the level of immunoglobulin G antibody or IgG. The information comes from Agência Brasil.

The discovery was made by researchers at Chongqing Medical University in China, and the results were published in the UK Nature group’s scientific publication Cell Discovery in early August.

To do this, the researchers analyzed 170 blood samples, taken from 85 patients with Covid-19, over a period of 12 months. Participants ranged from 3 to 84 years old.

After analysis of neutralizing antibodies – those capable of preventing the entry of the virus into cells – five participants with low levels of these antibodies received two applications of Coronavac, with an interval of 21 days. As a control group, 19 healthy people were analyzed.

In the results, the level of neutralizing antibodies in people who took Covid-19 – which was 36 one day before the first dose – rose to 108 two weeks after the second dose. In the control group, the indicator reached 56. Thus, the amount of neutralizing antibodies generated by the vaccine in those who had already been infected with Covid-19 was double compared to those who did not have the disease before the vaccination.

Regarding the IgG immunoglobulin level, which was 3.68 the day before the vaccine, it reached 47.74 two weeks after the second dose of Coronavac. An amount 4.4 times greater than the level of 10.81 identified in the control group, which had no disease previously.

During the 12-month follow-up of the 85 patients analyzed, the levels of neutralizing antibodies fell from 631 at the end of the first month to 84 in the last month. In the case of IgG immunoglobulins, the indicator increased from 28.6 to 7.2 during the same period.

“Our results reveal the durability of the immune response 1 year after natural infection with SARS-CoV-2, and the benefits of inactivated vaccines for individuals recovered from Covid-19.2, and with this it will contribute to the development of vaccines and new vaccines. vaccination strategies ”, emphasize the authors in the publication.
