Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin remains in critical condition after suffering cardiac arrest during Monday night’s (Jan. 2) NFL football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The update came via the Bills on Tuesday (Jan. 3). The team issued a statement saying Hamlin spent the night in the University of Cincinnati Medical Center’s intensive care unit. They didn’t say much else to elaborate on his condition.

“Damar Hamlin spent last night in the intensive care unit and remains there today in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center,” the Bills’ statement read via social media. “We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support we have received thus far.” View the full statement via Twitter below.

Hamlin’s family issued a statement on Tuesday thanking fans for the support they received during this “challenging time” for the family. They also thanked the 150,000-plus fans that have donated around $4 million to his charity toy drive fund.

“On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country,” the statement read.
