Sting Says He’s in the ‘Same Category as James Bond’

Sting is one of the biggest musicians in rock ‘n’ roll, having sold more 100 million records throughout his career. Even if he hasn’t won a ton of awards, that’s not keeping him up at night. The former leader of the Police and longstanding solo musician says he’s not upset that he hasn’t been knighted, which other rockers have received, such as Elton John, Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger and Tom Jones.

“I am now officially in command, so I am already in the same category as James Bond. I don’t care, I’m very happy like that. The point is, ‘Sir Sting’ doesn’t sound too good to me,” the musician said in a conversation with The Sun newspaper.

Sting has says that not having the digital numbers of some other artists doesn’t both him, either. Artists such as Adele and Ed Sheeran, he says, aren’t competition. “I’m not trying to compete with Adele or Ed, they’re really great,” he said. “For me, this is the best time to release a new album, whether it’s overshadowed or not. Recording it was very therapeutic and saved my sanity.”
