Michigan: This is the No. 1 beach in the state

It's time to cool off in one of Michigan's beautiful lakes

It’s beach season, and with the temperatures inching up to the 90s by next week, it’s certainly a good time to cool off in one of Michigan’s beautiful lakes.

Of course, Michigan has a collection of great inland and Great Lakes to enjoy. The staff at U.S. News & World Report has put together a list of the best beaches in Michigan, and one came out on top.

According to the study, Warren Dunes State Park is the No. 1 beach in all of Michigan. “Overlooking Lake Michigan, Warren Dunes State Park boasts 6 miles of hiking trails and 3 miles of shoreline,” they state in the study. “Spend the day collecting beach glass, discovering lost treasures with a metal detector or kayaking on the only Great Lake located completely inside the U.S. Better yet, with a designated dog-friendly beach, the whole family is welcome to tag along. If you need a break from the water, hop on a sandboard and zip down Tower Hill, the park’s highest point, or go hang gliding off of its peak. On a clear day, you may see Chicago in the distance.”

No. 2 on the list was P.J. Hoffmaster State Park, followed by Grand Haven, South Haven and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Find the full list here.
