Michigan Announces $1.5M Tuition Giveaway

An upcoming drawing will announce 100 winners, and each will snag $15,000 in prepaid tuition

LANSING, Mich. – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced a new giveaway in which $1.5 million will be awarded to 100 Michigan students. The drawing is in honor of the 35th anniversary of the Michigan Education Trust (MET).

According to the Michigan governor’s office, an upcoming drawing will announce 100 winners, and each will snag $15,000 in prepaid tuition.

“This life-changing giveaway is an awesome way to celebrate 35 years of helping Michigan families save for higher education,” Governor Whitmer said in a statement. “I applaud Treasurer Eubanks and the MET Board for making this opportunity possible, and I especially want to thank Governor Blanchard for his leadership and long-term vision that have left a remarkable legacy.”

“I would encourage any family thinking about saving for higher education to look into MET — as my parents did for me — and start today,” Whitmer continued.

There is a limit of one entry per person, but according to the governor’s office, more than one participant may enter on the same student’s behalf. For more details and to enter, go here.
