Wishlisted set out on a mission to see what Christmas movies are most popular in each state

The holiday season is officially here, and people are into the spirit by watching Christmas movies. The Hallmark Channel actually started running Christmas movies back in October, so it’s been here for a while.

There are so many holiday movies available, so which are the best? Wishlisted set out on a mission to see what Christmas movies are most popular in each state. Using Google Trends, Wishlisted ran the top 25 movies on IMDb’s Top 100 Christmas movies of all-time list through each state to find out the results.

“Set during the holidays, filled with cheesy nostalgia, permeated with joy — we’re talking about Christmas movies. Everyone has a favorite, and many are passionate about theirs. We wanted to know the most popular Christmas movie in every state, so we cracked open that nut to find out!” they state on their website.

So, which film is the most popular? According to the website, 40 states picked the 1989 movie “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation!” Another popular film was “Die Hard,” which is a holiday pick in eight states, perhaps finally putting an end to the question of whether “Die Hard” is a Christmas movie.

The second-most popular holiday film was “It’s a Wonderful Life,” followed by “Edward Scissorhands,” “Goblins,” “Love Actually,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and “The Shop Around the Corner.”
